In total 30 755 passengers passed through Poprad-Tatry Airport in 2012, it is 25% more in compare with the previous year. Number of aircraft movements increased as well up to 7295, which is 5% more.

In December and January the Poprad-Tatry Airport was destination for charter flights from Moscow, Kiev and Kharkov. Different airliners landed at the airport, from 50-seater Canadair CRJ200, via Airbus A320 and A321, Boeing 737-500 and 737-800, up to Tupolev TU-204 with capacity of 214 passengers. About 10% more tourists visited The Tatra Region by air during New Year Holidays than one year later.

Construction of new departure hall is planned in 2013, which will provide physical separation of Schengen and Non-Schengen travelers. This will allow simultaneous handling of two airline flights, as well as enhanced comfort for passengers. Also car parking area in front of terminal building will be enlarged. Construction works will be done during airport operations, temporary some restrictions touch eastern part of apron and arrival hall. After opening the new departure hall the present one will be converted for passengers of aerotaxi and private aircraft (general aviation).

During 2013 summer season tourists can fly directly from Poprad to Bulgarian Bourgas at Black Sea coast and to Turkish Antalya at Mediterranean Sea coast.

Poprad-Tatry international airport located at 718 metres above sea level is the highest situated airport for short and medium range airliners within Central Europe.

The airport is all year round opened seven days in week for:

- schedule flights

- charter flights for tourists and sport teams

- private, corporate and business flights

- training flights

- Helicopter Emergency Medical Service

- Poprad Aeroclub

- TLS Air company - sightseeing flights

The catchments area of the airport includes following towns: Poprad, Svit, The High Tatras, Liptovský Mikuláš, Ružomberok, Levoča, Spišská Nová Ves, Stará Ľubovňa, Dolný Kubín, Nowy Targ, Zakopane and Nowy Sacz.

Thanks to the geographical location Poprad-Tatry airport has got excellent weather conditions, it is often above fog layer and therefore utilized by diverting planes formerly heading to Košice, Sliač, Žilina or even to Bratislava as an alternate airport.

Poprad-Tatry International Airport is surrounded by beautiful nature (four National Parks are in the vicinity), mountain creeks and lakes, caves, ancient villages and towns, churches, castles (some of them are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List), but also by winter sport facilities and summer tourist centers.
